it is about 7" deep so probably not for most vegetables which I as still looking for. listing Photos are a little deceptive in length and depth.

-assembly took about 2 hours with 40 heavy duty screws that are mostly hidden holes the screws have to find to secure the pieces that make the box and stand. Where the toots provided are hard to use to do the tightening.
-90% sure you will put a piece or two together and have to take part of the assembly apart to make it right. So tip just losely tighten until you get it all put together right and come back and tighten the 40 locations. Also don't lose any screws. I did find the extra after I cleaned up.
I really wanted to find Raised planter beds that looked like wood, but it wasn’t actually wood because I didn’t want them to warp over time. These looked great and were exactly what I was looking for. I purchased two of them. Sturdy and good quality.
Not hard to assemble and so worth it！！！
